The Bay winds brushed against her form, kissing her pallid skin. Her dark curls of hair mingled with the air, mating and twirling with it as if trying to dance on their own. Off in the distance the young woman saw a flock of seagulls pass over the water, each individual bird flying in unison with each other. Their squawking was audible even from the distance, but just as soon as they had begun they finished. The water of the Bay lapped up against the wooden poles that supported the dock, large amount of barnacles stuck to the pillars. In the distance large waves could be seen crashing into other areas of the beach, even back into it own depths.
Her eyes were shut, the orbs as green as the sea unable to see anything but the darkness of her eyelids. Her feet dangled over the edge, the boot-clad limbs swaying back and forth, far from touching the water. Laura's hands were at her sides, palms pressed against the dock floor for support. The fur lining of her black coat tickled her neck, but didn't bother her. Sitting next to her form was a leather-bound book, containing what seemed to be about three hundred pages or so. Most appeared to be blank, but the first half or so had clippings sticking out, thickening the width of the book.
Laura was early to this session. It had been a few weeks since she had begun these meetings with Wanda, and other than her first and second meeting, she had arrived exactly to the hour. Now, however, she was there before her mentor, ahead of schedule by at least half an hour, maybe more. Each session had proved something to Laura, little by little. Wanda did care, but Laura was still on edge. The woman did not know much, if anything. The fact alone made Laura on edge, ready to leave at any moment.

The doors opened and Wanda entered, surprised to see Laura already there. The girl had been reluctant at the best of times and typically Wanda was left waiting for her. Tilting her head the scarlet clad woman studied the room. Since Laura was the only one of the pair of them that knew how to operate the Danger Room Wanda typically left it up to her to decide what the setting was going to be. Wanda found herself on a pier over water with gulls crying in the distance. It was quite relaxing, as Laura seemed to prefer most of the time.
"I am glad to see you here so soon," she said smiling, "It's been a long time since we've actually had a full session. Hopefully we can have some fun today."
Fun. That was hardly the word she would use for their sessions, even if it was the word she had just used. Instead they were frustrating and slow, as each step that Wanda took forward seemed to take her two backwards. No matter how close she seemed to get to Laura the girl just pushed her further away.
"What do you have there?" she asked as she bent down to glance at the thick book that Laura had brought with her, not quite sure whether it was the girl's book or something that was part of the simulation.

"Hopefully we can have some fun today."
Fun? Forgetting the fact Laura did not know much about the definition of fun, she would hardly call this fun. No, the last thing she knew to be 'fun' was long gone and cut into shreds, ripped away from her before she could realize what she had.
Laura's eyes didn't move away from the rippling water below her, the small waves far from getting near her shoes as they lapped against the wooden beams. The woman took an instant interest in the book that Laura had brought with her. It seemed to the feral that the instructor took it for something that it was far from. Maybe that was just her opinion, though, because who could honestly think of what was really inside the pages of the leather-bound item?
Laura lifted the book without turning her head to her mentor, holding it up to the woman. "A book," she said bluntly. If she had humor in her voice, the description could have been made to seem like sarcasm. But that wasn't Laura.
"My book," she added in the same, cold tone she had used time and time before. The first few pages were sheets paper clipped to the pages of the book, the writing on them neat and clean.
"Please forgive me. Even as I write these words they ring so low. My mistakes, no, my CHOICES, they cannot me undone, much less forgiven. All I can do now is tell you what happened. How all this came to pass and the truth about Weapon X... "
"My mother wrote that letter," she told Wanda, listening for if and when the book was opened. After the letter came the official files stating she was part of the program, blood rimming the sheets that were turning ivory. After that was the collection of photographs and newspaper clippings of the murders she committed - the ones she had knowledge of, at least.
