As he expected the ferals reacted badly to what he had said, though he noted that nobody actually disagreed with his assesment of Magneto's daughter as a ditz, rather that he was tactless enough to state the obvious. It seemed Maximoff did not even have the brains to know that she had been insulted, since all she did was smile and miss use the phrase "jet lag". Her refusal to get annoyed simply annoyed him in return.
He also noticed the rich blonde chick smoking. Briefly he debated reaching out and burning her face off with her own cigeratte, but decided against it. She probably could afford the plastic surgery to fix that and besides it would give Logan the excuse to tear him to shreds. As much as he hated life right now he did not want to die. Besides Melody was nearby and the last thing he wanted was for her to get hurt in the crossfire. The blonde then would live to smoke another day.
“What do ya say we partner up fa this thing?”
Pyro looked at her and relaxed a little. He knew he should say no, that it would just annoy Hellion and that John would just start to care more for her which would mean that seeing her with that Barbie Doll Boy would just hurt him more. It would be best to just keep to himself, and well away from anyone he might end up caring for. He wanted no ties to the Xavier Intitute save for the electronic monitoring ankle bracelet that he was forced to wear.
“Mah fabulous company’s gotta be somethin’ ta look forward to.”
He knew that she did not care about him, not like he did her because if she did she'd not be with Hellion. This was just another situation like with Drake and Rogue where he ended the odd man out and got himself hurt. What little humanity was in him, what little of him cared about others beyond himself, could easily wither and die if that happened again.
“You comin’ or what?”
Sighing he knew he was lost in an argument against her. He nodded and started to prepare a horse which was quite a bit more difficult that he had assumed it would be. As he worked he kept glancing at her, trying to figure out what she was trying to do. Was she just one of those inexplicably friendly people, or did she actually have feelings for him?
"Yeah," he said reluctantly climbing onto the horse. "Lead the way."

Jubilee was pretty ecstatic about this camping trip – of course, she was ecstatic about most of the things in life. She willingly volunteered to go on this excursion with the rest of the X-Men. She has been told it would be a fun experience for both faculty and students. Anything that was said to be fun, Jubilee could not ignore! Being the girly girl type she wasn’t a huge fan of camping, but she always was up for a new experience. She had to admit she did feel a tad bit afraid of all the wildlife and nature she has never encountered before, but seriously what girly girl wouldn’t be. Since she grew up wealthy and has always been around modern day technology. This whole experience was all completely knew to her, but she was going to give it her best shot.
Jubes wore attire which was both fashionable, but borderline casual enough to be wearing on a camping trip. Even though she knew she was bound to get a little dirty and scuffed up, what was the harm in putting on a little make-up? She had put on lip-gloss, giving her lips a strawberry scent and a glistening appearance and some other facial buffers, and of course you couldn’t keep her away from wearing her golden big hoop earrings. She kept her long wavy black-hair wrapped up in a small bun in the back of her head, held up by two wooden chopsticks, while some strands of hair fell down beside her cheeks.
Jubilee simply adored flying. She just felt the strong, but strange, urge to party, and toss up some multi-colored fireworks above the X-Jet, and watch them sparkle in the clear blue sky. Jubilee maintained a wide toothy smile and her pretty round face couldn’t have looked happier. She had been on the X-Jet a number of times, and felt perfectly safe in it. Sure, the first time she had been on it, she felt a bit unpleasant at times, but now she has grown to be immune to the sickening effects of all the jerking and turbulence the plane went through.
On the plane-ride Jubilee felt a little uneasy about Pyro being with the rest of the gang. In Jubilee’s eyes he was still the enemy, and he despised his cocky attitude. After he completely disrespected a fellow X-Woman she felt the strong urge to tell that pyrokinetic off, but before she had the chance Feral stepped in and took the glory. There was one thing for sure. That former brotherhood jerk was not going to ruin the trip for Jubilee. She could only hope for the best.
She sat in her chair feeling very content, and wore her seatbelt with pride. Next to her circle of friends, she struck up a few conversations and conversed with her fellow X-Men. When the X-Jet came to a landing Jubilee clapped her hands together and said enthusiastically, but softly, “Yay. We’re here!” With haste she unstrapped herself from her seat, and gathered all of her things. She had two massively large luggages and also carried a small hand bag over her shoulder. Most of her belonging involved cosmetics and other beautifying supplies. She had brought a little more than necessary, but she didn’t know any better. It was her first time in the great outdoors; overpacking was a simple mistake which anyone could make. It never hurts to be too prepared.
The ever cheerful pyrotechnic proceeded out of the X-Jet, carrying her heavy bags with a firm grip, one in each hand. Completely stepping out of the aircraft, she stood there with her Asian eyes widened and her mouth slipped open a little as she saw them. She also lost her grasp over her luggages from the shock and had dropped them onto the soft green grass. The travel has brought the team to a pack of horses. As smelly and filthy as they were, Jubilee looked on the bright side. She has never ridden a horse before. She always liked to learn her new things, so this would be an education experience for her. “Horses? Perfect, just perfect.”
Taking a deep breath in, she relaxed herself. With a slight smile across her face she approached a small brown colored horse, whose appearance seemed to be gentle. She placed her hand on the horse’s side, and petted the creature softly. “Good horsie, now work with me here. I’m new at this!” She climbed up on the horse, using her gymnastic balance, and placed herself on the horse’s back with ease. However, there was one problem – She was facing backwards. Trying to turn around, she fell off the horse and landed right on her ass. Oww. She slowly got up from the ground, and wiped the dirty residue from the green grass she landed on.
She pressed her feet against the ground and took a leap. She jumped onto the horse, and landed on the horse perfectly. “I so totally got this!” Feeling secure on the horse Jubilee put on a wide smile and was now eager to ride the horse. Her first horse riding experience, it was going to be great. Not wanting to fall on the ground again she was afraid to touch the horse in the wrong way, so she didn’t move a muscle. Jubilee raised an eyebrow completely dazed; she didn’t know how to ride a horse and wondered why it stood still. “Hey, someone get over here! How the heck do I ride this thing?” Jubilee yelled out. The others seemed to be riding off easily; why wasn’t Jubilee going anywhere!?

Her hazel gaze remained steadied on the angry young man as he nodded his head in response to her question. She smiled satisfactorily, her deep dimples just beginning to show. It was a small step, but it was a start. For the time being, Julian was forgotten as he continued up further with Laura. For the time being, it was Melody and John, Aero and Pyro. The more she thought about it, the more her thoughts became confused. The last thing she needed was to confuse feelings of friendship for something more, but after the other night in the kitchen she couldn’t help but be torn. Melody knew that had John returned to the Institute before she and Julian had met that there was a good chance that things could have been entirely different right now. Perhaps then she wouldn’t be with Julian at all, he may still have been in his floundering relationship with Sofia, the beautiful wind manipulator. Whatever the What if’s, the situation wasn’t that of the above. She was dating Julian, she was friends with John, and she wasn’t exactly sure where Sofia had been recently. Looking at John’s handsome face, it wasn’t difficult to see where the attraction originated, he may as well have been a Greek god or something to the effect, only more bad ass.
While most at the Institute saw John as rude, cold, and an all around jackass; Melody was able to see deeper than that. She saw the good side to him that so few others did, or allowed themselves to at least. As far as she could tell, Marie and Miss. Maximoff were the only two others who seemed to give him a chance to redeem himself. His steely exterior gave off the impression that he didn’t want to be redeemed, that he felt he had nothing to be redeemed for, and that in truth he felt his actions had always been justified. As she had listened to him speak in the past, she understood his feelings. Granted, the girl didn’t hold the same beliefs as him; she believed in Xavier’s dream, not Magneto’s. This was an area the two differed on, an both seemed to keep that fact in mind. Melody never tried to persuade him to change his beliefs, only to give the school a chance while he was there. Watching as he mounted the horse, she couldn’t help but be impressed as his biceps bulged while holding onto the saddle.
"Lead the way."
The two began to embark along the trail to catch up with the rest of the mutants. As they did so there was a distinct thud heard behind them. Melody hoped the noise was nothing to worry about. Stalling her horse, and motioning for John to do the same with his, she looked backwards, searching for the source of the sound. Sure enough, the noise was nothing to be scared of, just Jubilee having been unceremoniously disposed of by the horse she had selected. The sight was enough to dissolve the aerokinetic into muffled laughter. Shaking her head, and clearing the laugh from her throat, she wondered if she should try to help her teacher. Continuing her perusal of the damage, she watched as Jubilation hopped back up and onto the horse, seemingly at peace with the animal.
“I so totally got this!”
Still amused Melody looked over at John, a smile on her face, her eyebrow quirked. “See? Fun.” Leading her horse onward, she figured today would go okay. Looking over at John though, a thought crept into her head: Was it possible to have feelings for two people at the same time? The brunette knew that she cared deeply for her friend, but was that all there was? Their flirtations were just that, right? Nothing more than two people exchanging friendly banter, just a couple of kids messing around in jest. A sickening realization sat in the pit of her stomach; it was definitely more than that. As the sound of Jubilee’s voice continued to carry throughout the woods, it was as if she were a million miles away. What the hell am I gonna do?
