Abilities
Mutation: [Rockslide's body is composed of rock hard... errr rock. It's a previously unknown type of rock although it most closely resembles granite. This gives him incredible endurance and durability, making him almost indestructible. If he were to be destroyed he also is able to put himself back together again no matter how much damage has been done. When reforming he naturally takes elements of the terrain around him and incorporates it into his body, thus if he were to rebuild himself around volcanic rock his body would take on the properties of that rock.
His form also gives him superhuman strength. Being younger and not as well trained he is roughly only two-thirds as strong as the X-Man known as Colossus. The reforming part of his powers allows him to fire his hands and fingers as projectiles. He has no control over his body parts once he has shot them off, and must physically pick them up and reattach them to his body in order to get them back.]
Skills: [Santo was good at soccer, but has yet to learn how to adapt to playing with his new body. He used to be very good at XBox and especially Guitar Hero, but the controllers are now too small for his hands. Now he is pretty much only good at lifting heavy things and saying whatever inappropriate thing pops into his head.
He does however know every word on the Killer's album Hot Fuss and has memorized nearly every line of dialogue in Transformers movies (both the animated film and the live action one).]
Personality: [The world might hate and fear mutants but you'd never know it from how Vaccarro celebrated discovering her was a mutant. Growing up in an Italian neighborhood in Red Bank he wanted to be famous and rich. Heck, he wanted to be Kevin Smith. Sadly there was not much chance of either of those occurring, and so when his powers began to form he thought that this was his chance. Now suddenly he was the centre of attention, and he loved that even if the attention was not always positive as his former friends began to fear and hate him simply for being a mutant. When he was recruited as a student to the Xavier Institute he was excited, seeing this as his chance to take a step on the road to being rich and famous. How attending the Xavier Institute will make him rich and famous is not quite clear to him, but he is sure that it will.
Rockslide loves to be the centre of attention, and will take any opportunity to be it. He loves hanging out with the popular kids, something he was never able to do before his powers developed, and loves to please them so that they'll like him. He has learned as much from television as he ever has from school, and so sometimes he seems a bit dumb when he gets things wrong but that's not the case. He's actually fairly bright, he simply does not apply himself.
He is generally such a positive and happy person that it would be easy to think that he does not have flaws, or fears. He can be a bully, especially when trying to win approval from the popular kids. Also though he never speaks about it he does fear that his rocky appearance will prevent him from ever having a girlfriend since girls seem more interested in the boys who look completely human but have awesome powers instead of just have awesome powers.]
History: [The oldest of two boys born to Vincent and Anabella Vaccarro, Santo always wanted to be famous. As an Italian kids growing up in an Italian family in New Jersey that meant sports but sadly he was never particularly good at them. Too small, two slow and not strong enough he failed at baseball, basketball and even wrestling. His next plan was to get famous drawing comic books, but again he just was not very good. He despaired a lifetime of working at the corner grocery store that his father and mother owned and operated, and so was delighted the day that his mutation began to develop. Up until that point he had largely ignored the mutant issues, and paid little attention to the televised news of the Brotherhood's attack on Alcatraz, or the events on Liberty Island.
Unlike most teens who suddenly develop an obvious visible mutation, Santo was excited and happy to go to school the next day nearly two feet taller and made of solid rock. His mother had had to stay up all night making him pants that would fit, but he was sent home on a week long detention anyway for not wearing a shirt. His argument that similarly giant characters in comic books only wore pants, not convincing the principal. He returned to school after his detention and quickly found that none of his friends wanted anything to do with him. Even when he helped protect people from bullies, they still did not want to be his friend.
Deciding to drop out of school and become a professional wrestler, sadly the nickname The Rock was taken, he was packing his bags to leave home and go to the next Wrestle-mania when the invitation from the Xavier Institute came inviting him to check out the campus. Having already given up on school Santo was not at all interested, but his parents who believed that without a good education he would amount to nothing, insisted. After a long argument he agreed and took a tour of the campus. Though he saw very few people who were like him, mutants who could no longer live their normal lives due to visible physical mutations, he relented and registered to begin during the winter semester that was starting in January.
The separation from his family was harder than he had anticipated during his idle dreams of becoming a professional wrestler. It was an emotional farewell, but one that was made easier because apart from his immediate family who had all accepted him no matter what he looked like, he no longer hand any friends or anyone else to miss while he was in upstate New York attending the exclusive boarding school. He promised his parents that he would try his best in his classes, but his real concern was making new friends who would accept him no matter what he looked like and no matter how mutanty he got.]
Sample Post: [Santo Vaccarro stood in front of the mirror and tried it again. Nothing, not even a twinge. Not even a tick. It was hard to raise ones eyebrows when one no longer had eyebrows, when all that one had were stone ridges where eyebrows once grew. "Do you smell what the Rock is cooking?" he asked, not expecting an answer but secretly hoping for one from his reflection. How cool would that be? Not quite as cool as suddenly turning into a hulking giant made of solid stone, but still pretty cool. His only regret was that he had not been born twenty years before hand, so that he could debut as the professional wrestler The Rock instead of some non-rock guy.
Still aside from that minor quible being a mutant was pretty much the most awesome thing that had ever happened to him, even if he had lost all of his friends because of it. He could not understand why other mutants felt their powers were a burden, or a negative. Hell even the guy they'd learned about in class with no jaw and just a kind of camp fire thing going on in his chest had it awesome. Yeah, frankly these things kicked some ass and he was not going to listen to some mutant sad story that started with, "Oh whaa whaa I can walk through walls. Life is hard..." or "Whad whaa lasers come out of my eyes so I need to wear designer sunglasses."
Bull. Being a mutant was great, that's why mutants were so much better than humans. Oh he knew Xavier did not like that idea, but come on. Before he was a mutant Santo had been a nobody. He had not been good at school, sports, video games or even Dungeons and Dragons. Now he was awesome, and he could fight a school bus, if a school bus ever wanted to fight with him.
Leaving his dorm room he stomped down stairs, making sure that his stomps were extra stompy, and headed for his first class. Math. Damnit. Even mutants needed math.]
