Abilities
Mutation:
Candra is a prominent and well-versed telekinetic. Her potential ranks just below the late X-Man, Jean Grey, with finesse and skill to telekinetically insert a thread through a needle’s head with ease. She can lift objects that weigh up to five tons with little difficulty, though any higher would allot fatigue to settle in. Aside from moving objects with her mind, she has also learned to use it upon herself allowing her to levitate and fly herself and those in her vicinity. She can also create force fields that can withstand the toughest of physical and energy attacks, though multiple strikes could cause her concentration to break and shatter her force field. As a psionic, she can also project force bolts, stunning and damaging her opponents’ nervous system without having to have physical contact with them. This ability can produce several results such as causing pain, memory loss, loss of consciousness or vegetated states.
The precision of her skills are so properly trained that she is even able to affect molecules around her. Molecular telekinesis has allowed Candra to stave off her aging process, and gives her a slight above-average healing process. She can also “jumpstart” the genes in latent mutants, bestowing them their own individual powers or to re-arrange them, causing their abilities to be suppressed and negated. For some reason, though her “jumpstarts” seem to be permanent, the negation of the mutant x-gene seems only effective until her target is out of her vicinity or if she puts too much strain on herself.
Skills:
Pragmatic and advantageous credentials are an obtrusive part of Candra’s life. From winning beer pong games, darts and pool to being the only female to shotgun a beer faster than any frat boy, her talents are quite worthless in the real world. She also has an eye for fashion, usually looking like she had just come out of a Vogue magazine when steps outside the mansion. The sole part of her skills that she could use in real life mostly revolve around her mechanics, knowing every part of a car inside and out and not needing any help from the boys when it came to fixing or upgrading her vehicle.
Personality:
Taking after her codename of Vanity, Candra is self conscious of the way she looks and the way she presents herself to others. Usually clad in as revealing outfits as she can without looking too risqué is her own personal sense of style. Some have labeled her a high-maintenance girl, always going to get her hair and nails done professionally and immediately going shopping for new clothes right after. Her own personal motto is that a person should never be seen wearing the same outfit more than once in a one-month period, giving some sense of how much clothes the blonde woman owns.
Candra adores the swooning men and women that take notice of the way that she looks. Her body is party a result of her mutation, but also because of regular, daily exercises that keep her body in pristine shape. The long locks that fall down her back are also a result of regular upkeep and management, using only the top-shelf brands that keep her hair young and healthy. She takes pride in the way she looks, but looking too much in the mirror often times leads her to look past what is beautiful about the person inside.
Flashing herself and her property around others are just as important as making sure that she seen with the ‘in’ crowd. She would hardly be seen with any others who do not have the same standard in beauty like she does. Candra is a girl that knows she is beautiful, which in turn molds into cockiness, a very unattractive personality trait to some. Her bodacious body gets flaunted as often as she can, to impress the men and to make other women jealous of what they lack in physical appearance.
Her young spirit had caused her to become quite a spontaneous individual. In most cases, she cannot stay still at home when she knows that there are free drinks at night clubs with her name on it. Things that are repetitive and uneventful bore her. Adventure might as well have been her middle name since she cares more about the thrills than her own life (partly because she knows she has healing abilities). She enjoys living free, without having to worry about what would happen tomorrow, let alone ten years down the road. Candra lives on the fast lane, living every single night as much as she could knowing that one day it could all very well end.
As much of a bad influence Candra is to some, her open-mindedness and strong-will are perhaps her most humane traits. Open-mindedness had led her to become friends with some of the interesting individuals. And though it started out only so she can withstand others, it became a vital part of her mutant life as well, dealing with segregation and hate against mutant-kind.
More recently, however, Candra swallowed up her pride and has become somewhat more humble than she used to be. Though her priorities have changed, there are still certain parts of herself that are harder to change than others. In honesty Candra is trying with all her effort to be less of the person that everyone admired but hated and more of the person that everyone admired because they generally cared for her.
History:
Adam and Jennifer von Hamilton was a lovely, wealthy, young couple living in suburbia, California. Adam was a doctor and Jennifer was a lawyer, and thus having a child would not put a strain in their financial situation. They loved each other dearly, but Jennifer was infertile and could not bear a child for Adam. The two opted instead for adoption. Their plan was to go to the hospital and pick out a bouncing baby boy that resembled their features. For some reason, both Adam and Jennifer were drawn to the cradle of a baby with only the name “Candra” as her identity. They happily chose baby Candra, and the two of them couldn’t have raised her any better.
Even when Candra was younger, she seemed to have matured much quicker than any other children in her class. She was mostly quiet because some of the kids and even the faculty members of her school were intimidated by the way she looked. At twelve years old, Candra looked like a sixteen year old girl joining a middle school class. Her beauty never got to her head, however, as she buried herself into her books, trying to learn as much as she can. She was smart, humble, active, beautiful and so full of life, the daughter that anyone could ever ask for.
In high school, Candra began to date her first boyfriend, Josh Crawford. Others viewed him as lucky, but Candra knew that she was with him because of his morals and values. They hugged, cuddled, held hands and kissed, but they were not the type like other kids to fornicate whenever they could. Josh wanted to be a doctor, and Candra wanted to be and editor-in-chief in a fashion magazine, making both of their schedules immensely hectic, but always having time for each other. The two lovers luckily attended the same college, where instead of living in separate dorms, they opted to live with each other in an apartment instead.
The von Hamilton and Crawford family could not be happier with their match. They seemed perfect for each other, with Josh receiving permission from Candra’s father Adam if he could have his daughter’s hand in marriage. The two families decided to take a trip to a theme park where Josh would later ask Candra if she would marry him. It would be a memorable day, but for a different reason. Josh and Candra strapped themselves on a coaster that unfortunately had trouble. Several cars from the coaster went off the track, causing one death, two comatose and five with critical or minor injuries. Josh had a minor injury, but was very likely to survive. Candra, however, was less fortunate.
She was one of the two that were comatose from the traumatic experience. In fact, when the emergency medical technicians arrived, Candra was at the brink of death. It was her mutant powers, however, that saved her life. Her molecular telekinesis began to slowly recuperate the young girl, but it would be several years later when she would wake up again. The once eighteen year old girl in college with her high school sweetheart suddenly woke up as a twenty-three year old woman. It seemed very odd to her, especially since when she woke up, she still looked the same from what she remembered last. The doctors were astonished that she left the hospital without any scars on her body. But though there weren’t any physical scars, the emotional scars of waking up years later missing out on her life, her ex-boyfriend who wanted to be her husband now married to someone else, and the feeling of abandonment was too much for the young woman to handle.
Candra began to take charge of her new life in the wrong direction, dying her gorgeous blonde locks with platinum blonde, black and red. Her sweatshirts turned into tang tops and her denim jeans were turned into short skimpy skirts. She began to wear obscene clothes as well as obscene make-up and hung out with other college students, barely passing her classes because of her alcohol, drug and cigarette abuse. This was until she began to lose control of her mutant powers because she began to lose control of herself. Slowly, but surely, she cut down on all her incessant activities to focus more on controlling her mutant abilities. Several years later, after a mutant epidemic, she joined Xavier’s School as one of its X-Men to use her powers for good, and to try and change what past she had apparently corrupted within herself. Slowly changing her options from alcohol and drugs to training in the Danger Room and being more into fashion, she is making progress to making a perfect balance between the goody-girl that she was and the monstrous party-girl that she had become.
A slight conversation with X-Men’s Nightcrawler had changed her views about outside appearances in others. It had helped her to be more accepting of others, the way she wanted to be accepted by those who didn’t understand who she was or her mutant abilities. Her hidden crush for the now co-leader of the X-Men, Cyclops keeps her striving to do better both as an X-Man and as a person. Change comes slowly, but in the past six months that she had been attempting to change herself, she seems almost there. The X-Men held out long enough to help the poor woman codenamed Vanity, and it would now be her turn to help them out by utilizing herself as a serve to the X-Men dream.

"You ain't seriously wearin' that. An if ya are, Ah hope ya know a real good remedy for blisters."
What lovely first words to come out of the little tart that joined the group. Candra thought to herself that at least she didn’t forget to wear clothes. Her hand-me-down hoochie-mama shorts didn’t seem fit for a little camping trip either, and as much as she wanted to say a spiteful retort back, she wanted to impress Scott and handle her maturity. She may be going out to the woods for camping, but there was no need to look grungy and dirty when doing so. For the most part, she wore the outfit not because it was cute or expensive (okay, so that was a small part of it), but because it was also comfortable. The matching pink Victoria’s Secret track outfit had a soft cotton blend, and for a chilly morning she thought it was appropriate.
"The only ‘remedy’ I have if I do get blisters is to shove these Ugg boots up your hick-town…"
"Ugg boots are actually comfortable, when you learn to walk in heels for hours in a day these are like heaven. I can lend you some if you want to dress up sometime," she responded instead of what she thought in her head.
Yes, she answered back with a retort, but subtle, targeting Paige’s femininity… or lack thereof. She wasn’t going to fight with someone, let alone with one of the female Guthries because she knew that they would have an advantage over her with their butch personas. Candra simply let the comment go, as she watched another Guthrie kin join. The young blonde was used to turning in every corner of the school and seeing one of them roaming about, why should it be any different when going on a school trip?
The beautiful brunette in the group, Wanda, turned her attention to Candra. With her beautiful features and unwavering gorgeous locks, Candra wanted to take Wanda and give her a slight make-over. With looks like hers, it would be devastating to the world if she didn’t shine her best. Alas, her warm feelings for the woman changed when she, after Paige, commented on her outfit as well.
"There is probably time to change if you would like. Your clothes appear quite expensive, I would worry that the elements might not be kind to them. If you wish I probably have some extra clothing that would fit you, my belongings are far less... nice."
She quit. Candra took a deep breath and rolled her eyes, not at Wanda, but at the unwanted attention she was receiving from the group. Yes, Candra wanted to change herself for the better, but things take time. She could have shown up in what she wanted to wear originally, a Versace shirt with Armani denim and her new Michael Kors stilettos she purchased the night before, but she didn’t. Candra put some thought and decided that the track suit would best fit what would be her experience today because she had always used it for working out. And her boots, though they may be Ugg brand were boots, not stilettos. Instead of using her telekinesis to go about the hills she chose a decent pair of shoes that she could walk in. But then again, who was she kidding? Nobody expected Candra to even think about trying to changing herself, all they could see was a materialistic, egotistical, narcissistic blonde young woman. Unlike to the Guthrie girl, Candra replied to Wanda in a nicer tone, since her words were not accusatory and her smile showed that she wasn’t trying to be mean.
"Thank you Wanda, but if these clothes get ruined I’m sure I can replace them. I might take you on that offer later though if it’s still open," she replied with a smile of her own.
Dare she? Yes. Candra wanted to know what the whole fad was about with bargain-priced clothes, “normal” people clothes as others have blatantly put it to her. If only to be kind, she would put the outfit that Wanda suggested on. She then headed over to the bus, where she lifted her Louis Vuitton suitcase and shoved it in the side panel where the luggage went. Candra thought that if she were going to be serious about changing, she would do everything physically without the use of her mutant abilities to prove to herself that she could do it. She would have preferred to take things one step at a time, but this event alone would be a giant leap for her.
